08-06-05 Trojan Espionage Becoming More Advanced
A group of Israeli programmers have received $A40, 910 a month for each computer they commandeered.
At least 19 business executives and private investigators in Israel and London were arrested last week for allegedly using sophisticated software to infiltrate competitors' computers, including two mobile phone providers and Israel's main satellite television company.
Gadi Evron, an Israeli Government Internet Security manager, said “industrial espionage of this sort is becoming more common globally the use of Trojans to take over other computers had grown exponentially. The practice had developed from a game for computer addicted kids to a sophisticated fraud orchestrated by organised crime.
Most people don't even know they are infected, unlike when viruses are demonstrated; in the real world people will usually have no clue when a Trojan has infiltrated their computer” he said.
Police expect the investigation to widen.

First Spammer Convicted in the U.S.A
Nicholas Tombros has the dubious double honor of being the first spammer convicted under federal law ... and the first convicted "war spammer" in U.S. history.
"War spammers"--in case you haven't heard the term--are a pernicious combination of "war drivers" and "spammers."

War spammers not only electronically hijack the web connections they find, but also use them to send unsolicited e-mails.......
